十月 会話(pp.61) 訳（やく：translation）

男：みんながんばっていますね。
Everybody is trying hard.
女：ああ、走り高とびね。ほんとすごいわねえ。わたしの背より高いわよ。
Oh, high jump. It’s really great. That’s higher than my height.
男：あっちは走り幅とびですか。ぼくも高校生のころ選手だったんですよ。
Long jump is over there. I also was an athlete when I was a high school student.
女：あら、そう。それでスポーツはなんでも得意なのね。今でも時々練習しているの？
Oh, is that right? That’s why you are good at any sports. DO you still practice sometimes even now?
男：いいえ、今は全然。日本に来てから全くスポーツはしていないんです。
No, not at all now. I haven’t play sports at all since I came to Japan.
女：わたしも昔は、100メートル走の選手だったのよ。今はこんなに太っちゃったけど。
I was also an athlete for 100m foot race long time ago. I got fat like this now though.
男：そうですか。本当はぼくもスポーツしたいんですけれど、忙しいと、なかなかできませんね。
Is that right? Actually I want to play sports, but, if you are busy/when you are busy, you cannot do that, right?
女：そうね。あっ、見て見て。うちのたけしよ。これから走るらしいわ。
That’s right. Oh, look look, that’s my [son,] Takeshi. It seems like he is running now.
男：あっ、本当だ。たけしくーん。がんばれー！スタートしましたよ。
Oh, right. Takeshiiii! Try hard! They started.
女：たけしー！しっかり走りなさい！速く速く！
Takeshiiiii! Run hard! Fast fast!
男：あーっ、もう少し、がんばれ、がんばれーっ！
Oh, it’s close, run hard, run hard!
女：あーあ、２着だわ。もっとしっかりはしらなくちゃ。だめね、たけしは。
Oh… he got the 2nd place. He had to run harder. Takeshi is not good.
男：そんなことありませんよ。よくがんばったじゃありませんか。
That’s not right. Actually he tried very hard.
女：そうかしら•••••。でも、昔のわたしだったら絶対に負けないわよ！
Is that right….? But if it was me long time ago, I would never lose!
男：まあまあ。たけしくん一生懸命走ったんですから、ほめてあげてくださいよ。
Take it easy. Takeshi run very hard, so please praise him.
